What is Invisalign?

Step by step guide to straighter teeth...

Invisalign clear aligners can help straighten minor to complex teeth misalignment. The length of treatment can take on average only 6 months, but this is dictated by a personalised treatment plan depending on how complicated your case is. Most people feel a difference wearing Invisalign aligners after three months, and results are usually noticeable after six months.

The main benefit of Invisalign is that there is no need for ‘train tracks or a fixed brace system, instead patients wear ‘see-through’, removable plastic aligners which are changed every 2-3 weeks. All the adjustments are made through a different aligner. The aligners are each specifically moulded to your mouth and fit perfectly against your teeth, because of this, Invisalign is much more comfortable than traditional braces.

01

Initial Consultation

During this consultation the dentist will examine your mouth and check that you are a suitable candidate for treatment. The dentist will then discuss the treatment process and explain how it all works and answer any questions you may have.

02

First appointment
If you are a suitable candidate and want to go ahead with treatment, the dentist will take photos, take digital 3D scans of your teeth and discuss the process with you.

03

Second Appointment
Aligner fit. The dentist will explain how to wear aligners and schedule a check up within the next few weeks.

04

Third appointment onwards
Each aligner must be worn for 2-3 weeks and then swapped for the next one. You should wear the aligners for as long as possible every day and take them out only to eat and drink and maintain dental health.

05

Completion appointment

Once complete the dentist will whiten the teeth (if required) followed by any recontouring (if required) to truly give you the perfect smile! You will then choose your retainers, removable or bonded to keep your new smile!
